The Resolution

This year the new years resolution will hopefully be quite simple, but of course difficult as always. For me this past year, I have realized it’s the little things that tend to escape me. I have decided that those will be those things I will work on this year.

1. Have my house picked up by bedtime

2. Lose 15 pounds

3. Eat a healthier diet

4. Be more consistent at writing (blogging, writing on my own time)

5. Finish the second children’s story

6. Work on getting the first children’s story published

7. Spend about two hours a week working out (trust me it’s better then what I’m doing now)

8. Keep an active journal

9. Be consistent at Family Home Evening

10. Complete the first five chapters of my non-fiction book

11. Make my bed everyday (or most days….right now it’s rare)

12. Build up food storage

13. Allow my husband to make more of his own decisions where he will face the consequences himself, but hope he will recognize many or most of the decisions he makes will have a direct impact on our family (meaning me and Bradley and himself of course)

14. Potty Train Bradley

15. Write an article for the Church

We’ll see what this year brings. I know there’s a lot going on and I’m sure my resolutions will come with some revisions but this is what I have feel and feel are my goals at this point….I’m hoping that at the beginning of every months we will be able to check up on the resolutions and see how far I’ve come and if I’m being consistent at doing them….This in no means replaces our family theme, which still remains the same….Hope.

  1. I wish you all the luck but have some definite questions and comments. Some of your New Year's Resolutions made me laugh (in a good way)!
I'll ask questions by the number of resolution.
    1. When you mean you want your house picked up before bed every night does that include EVERY room in the house or just the downstairs? If Bradley gets put in a big boy bed, you know he'll decided to get all of his toys out the moment you leave the room right?
    2. Do you plan on losing the 15 lbs before or after you get pregnant again? Does baby weight count?
    5. Where is the first children's book you have written? I'd love to read it!
    11. Will you make the bed even on days that you are sick or recovering from having another baby? Does it count if you've made the bed and 15 seconds later Bradley undoes all of the covers? (Owen does this almost every day!)
    14. Good luck with potty training. I hate to tell you this but this is something you have ABSOLUTELY NO control over! When Bradley is ready, he'll be successful, but until then... Good luck!

I wish you the best with your resolutions!

  2. Ok.....I'll clarify.....

    1. The house....clearly the downstairs. It doesn't have to be perfect but I don't want it to be a tornado either. I know this won't work all the time.
    2. The 15 pounds only counts for the months I'm not pregnant. Until I do get pregnant I'm going to try and just work out and lose the weight. After I'm pregnant I'll continue to just to work out but not try and lose the 15 pounds...just keep doing what I can to be in the best shape possible.
    5. LOL As for the children's book, that has to wait to be read. It needs A LOT of work, but if it does get published then I'll let people read it.
    11. LOL I just need to make the bed more then once a week. And if I made it once then hopefully I won't have to make it again.
    14. As for potty training....we'll see what happens.

    Thanks for the good luck

  3. Resolutions just seem SO overwhelming right now. I'm sticking the the goal of making through each day sane. Perhaps when the snow goes away I'll feel better.
